The tour departs out of Cairns on a safe and secure catamaran, taking you out to Reef Magic's exclusive all-weather Reef Magic pontoon. Here, dive into a stunning coral reef location and discover the diverse marine life. The breathtaking location is a truly once in life time experience that includes snorkelling in a sheltered coral lagoon, scuba diving, and/or a guided Snorkel Safari by an esteemed Marine Biologist. No matter your fitness and experience levels, the Cairns Reef Tour will ensure you make the most of your time out at sea.
The cruise includes all snorkelling equipment and provides a full hot and cold buffet lunch, ensuring that you can discover the reef stress-free. Lay back and enjoy the sunshine on the top deck, or hang out in the underwater observatory and view the rich marine life.

- Reef Magic Pontoon: Experience Co are delighted to be bringing a brand-new pontoon to the Great Barrier Reef in 2022. With a focus upon three main pillars – Sustainability, Marine Biology and Indigenous story telling - the new pontoon will feature a two-storey structure for reef-based exploration and onboard scientific learning via a purpose-built laboratory, the first of its kind on the Great Barrier Reef. Innovative in its design, the platform will focus on reducing the impact on the environment with wind, solar and, where possible, electricity generation to power the pontoon and smaller support vessels – another first for the region.

- Peak dates: 1st April - 26th April; 22nd June - 11th October; 21st December - 17th January 2025
- Boarding commences at 8.15am with final boarding at 8.45am from Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal and tour returns at 5pm
- Guests will receive a text message the afternoon prior to departure with berth number and vessel as well as a link to a map directing them to the correct location

- Tours are weather dependent and may need to be cancelled or rescheduled at short notice. In the rare event we deem the weather too bad to travel and you are unable to reschedule, a full refund will be provided
- Local ID: Valid local photographic ID must be provided at check-in or you will be asked to pay the difference in price. Passengers must live between Townsville and Cooktown to qualify

Absolutely amazing experience. 100% recommend this trip.
Absolutely amazing experience. My husband and I did this trip and would 100% recommend it. We got to play with a Wally the Wrass, scuba dive, snorkel spend time in the underwater observatory, lunch included was great and the team were amazing and knowledgeable.

Great for families! Lots of activities! But really crowded.
The trip on the boat to the pontoon was straight forward. We booked the beginner diving experience. And the briefing was done on the boat which was good to spend time on the boat and be free to snorkel once on the pontoon. All equipment is included in the experience and it was good fun to get in the water and see the Great Barrier Reef. It’s definitely a good experience for families as it allows too manage the kids while adults take turns in different activities, and there’s plenty of time on the pontoon. However, overall there’s too many families and too many people in the pontoon. Food is decent.

The Great Barrier Reef is as amazing as it looks!
The day was nice, we had plenty of time to swim around but also to just enjoy the place. The tour guides were very attentive, the tour offers various activities even ones friendly to people not very comfortable on swimming, They also provide the snorkeling gear including the wetsuits.
